Yankeetown is a charming Coastal Village on the North West coast of Florida. Known for its tree lined streets, quiet lifestyle and "Outstanding Florida Waterway", the Withlacoochee River, Yankeetown is home to approximately 550 residents. The town was founded in the early 1920's as a coastal fishing and hunting resort. Many of the original homes as well as the original post office and school still exist on the tree lined Riverside Drive.

The Town of Yankeetown is environmentally friendly, with seven parks the largest being the Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve located on the coastal estuarine system. This 413 acre park includes over three miles of hiking trails, a 35 foot observation tower over looking the Gulf of Mexico, canoe and kayak access to the Gulf and the Ellie Schiller Education Center.

Being a coastal community Yankeetown offers boating access on the Withlacoochee River at its own public boat launch as well as two additional launches at Yankeetown Marina and B's Campground. There is also Gulf access at the County boat ramp on County Rd. 40 as well as a small public beach which is also suitable for canoe and kayak launching. Yankeetown surely is a destination point for canoe and kayak enthusiasts, plan your visit today.
